Welcome to Wilmington Water
Wilmington Water is Delaware's first water utility, tracing its roots back to the 1800s. Today, it is the backbone for the City's quality of life, providing safe and reliable water and wastewater services to more than 450,000 people every day.
The people of Wilmington Water are committed to producing consistent drinking water of exceptional quality. One of Delaware's few surface water systems, Wilmington Water draws its primary supply from the Brandywine Creek, then uses two cutting-edge drinking water treatment plants, nine storage tanks, and more than 420 miles of mains to deliver clean drinking water to our 110,000 customers.
Wilmington Water promotes healthy and clean waterways by operating and maintaining a sewer collection network including 300 miles of pipe and four pump stations. Our Utility also owns and operates the largest wastewater treatment plant in Delaware, serving a population of approximately 450,000 residents of Wilmington and Northern New Castle County.
With over 200 years of service, Wilmington Water is dedicated to ensuring a clean and sustainable water supply for our community now and in the future.
